Prevent Spyware/Malware/Virus infections as best as you can

As most of you know many of these nasty things lie within the internet they are known to be masters of disguise hiding in the most innocent of places so the most simplistic solution is to not go online but who am I kidding the internet is now a near necessity for many of us so comes the next solution the majority of them hide within ads simply ignoring them and clicking them help but some of the ads just cannot be ignored they annoy you to click on them to shut them up so blocking them is next best thing to do and will tremendously help.

There are two steps to this many of you already have done this use a better internet browser here is a short list of some of the more secure and popular internet browsers out there.(Note due to Internet Explorer being one of the least secure browsers out there I can not recommend it at all)
Now if you already use one of those browsers or have just installed one of them there is an addon for you to install called Adblock Plus that does what it's name suggests and is one of the most popular ad blockers out there and very reliable and if you want you can still allow some ads to run on sites to support them. Just install it from there web page https://adblockplus.org/en or if your browser has an app store install it from there. https://adblockplus.org/en/subscriptions is where to go for the filters needed to block ads and known malware domains.

Also keep programs like Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, and Java up to date is a must.
Now the next way to prevent the bad stuff of the interwebs from infecting you is a bit dated but works surprisingly well still. The program Spybot - Search&Destroy has a feature that really is only reason that I still use it "Immunization" basically it teaches your browser to block certain methods that spyware likes to use to get in.(Note* To do this you will need to let the program have administrative privileges simply right click the shortcut->Run this program as an administrator.) I would suggest using version 1.6.2 due to the ease of use and it still being supported Spybot S&D 1.6.2. If you wish to try and use the 2.2 version there is very little difference other than how it looks Spybot S&D 2.2.

This action is unnecessary if you use a wireless router as it usually does this for you anyways also windows has a fairly decent one built in. Just find a good firewall program and install it...I don't have many suggestions on that I just use the built in window firewall and my router does the rest. A lot of antivirus software have firewalls bundled with them now unless you get the free editions which usually don't.

Speaking of Antivirus even the free ones can help prevent infection. Some good free Antivirus are
Now the only other program I can think that can help you prevent infections is the Malwarebytes Pro version. However the free version may not help prevent infection it sure helps if you do get infected to remove it quickly and efficiently. https://www.malwarebytes.org/
Edit* I have found another program that does this as well called SuperAntiSpyware that helps scan and remove. http://www.superantispyware.com/

Unchecky helps a lot if you like installing programs I wrote an article on it here. This is the website for unchecky. http://unchecky.com/

For the most part This is with using the Windows Operating System though Mac OSX and Linux Are not 100% safe from all this a few things here can work on them as well. The reason you don't here makes getting viruses is due to the fact there just isn't as many viruses out there yet for OSX an Linux.
